Fitter and Faster Instructors Have Strong Performances at Mesa Arena Grand Prix

The fourth installment of the Arena Grand Prix was held in Mesa, Arizona over April 11-13th, and a few Fitter and Faster instructors were there to be part of the competition.

Two time Olympian Chloe Sutton, who had just participated in clinics in Southlake, Texas and Munster, Indiana, finished second in the 800 free and third in the 400 free.  You can catch Chloe back on the Fitter and Faster Tour in Bountiful, Utah and Idaho Falls, Idaho later this month!

Six time Olympic medalist Matt Grevers, just five days after he married fellow swimmer Annie Chandler, was also on hand in Mesa ready to compete.  With Matt sporting a “Just Married” cap in warm ups, the couple embraced the meet as part of the ‘life of a professional swimmer.’  “This is kind of fun for us,” stated Chandler, “It’s just really where our social group is. It’s kind of another reunion after the wedding.”  Grevers placed first in the 100 backstroke, the same event he earned gold in this past summer at the London Olympics.   Annie and Matt will be on hand at the Fitter and Faster Tour stop in Houston, Texas, at the end of this month.   And don’t worry; the couple has proper honeymoon plans in the works for after the World Championships this summer.

Olympic Gold Medalist Claire Donahue finished first in the 100 butterfly despite having her appendix removed just a short six weeks ago.  Shortly after her win in Mesa Claire headed to Tecumseh, Michigan and Greensboro, North Carolina for Fitter and Faster Tour events, which she instructed alongside three time Olympian Peter Vanderkaay.
